Unfortunately for them, Robert Lopez owns the trademark to ‘Lower East Side,’ and has since the mid-nineties. Previous legal pursuits to protect the grassroots brand included cases against J. Crew, Urban Outfitters, Payless ShoeSource, Gap, Inc., and Aeropostale.”
