Trademark Cat Fight

Trademark Cat Fight

In December 2011, Puma filed a complaint against Arctic Cat Inc. alleging trademark infringement, false designation of origin, deceptive trade practices, unfair competition, dilution, and copyright infringement.  The claim was based on the similarity between Puma’s “Leaping Cat” logo and Arctic’s “Leaping Cat” logo.  Last week, the parties settled the lawsuit.  While the terms of the settlement were not disclosed, Arctic continues to use the logo on its website and sell clothing and merchandise branded with the logo.
