The Home-Sharing Industry and Privacy with Yafit Lev-Aretz (Ep. 69)

In this week’s episode, Staff Member, Madeline Ritter talks to Yafit Lev-Aretz, assistant professor of law at the Zicklin School of Business at Bruch College and the Director of Tech Ethics program at the Zicklin Center for Corporate Integrity.  She has an SJD from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, as well as an LLM from Columbia Law School and an LLB from Bar-Ilan University School of Law in Israel.  With over fifteen years in the field, Professor Lev-Aretz is a spearhead in discussions surrounding privacy regulations and big data.

In today’s discussion, Professor Lev-Aretz talks to Madeline about the ever-changing dynamics between “home-sharing” powerhouses such as Airbnb and the privacy community. They start by exploring the industry at large and compare it to the traditional hotel industry. Next, they discuss specific privacy concerns within home-sharing websites and explore how the sharing economy is constantly growing. Professor Lev-Aretz shares her insights into both problems and solutions in this ever-expanding marketplace.
