The Streaming State of Business & Legal Affairs with Netflix’s Jeffrey Wachs (Ep. 71)

In this week’s episode, staff members, Richard Fielkow and Michael Regan, sit down with Jeffrey Wachs, Principal Counsel of Business & Legal Affairs in Netflix’s Original Films department, to discuss his team’s role in movie production. The importance of a streaming services like Netflix is amplified when we see the landscape of entertainment shift from predominantly theatrical releases to a focus on streamers. We discuss with Jeffrey how Netflix determines an Actor’s compensation for any given project, how Netflix protects itself in negotiating credits for an ensemble cast, and much more. Prior to working at Netflix, Jeffrey was the Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs at Lakeshore Entertainment. Before that, he spent time as an associate at both Sheppard Mullin and O’Melveny & Myers LLP.
